Small Diorama

So over the last couple of months I've been working on an entry for Phil Parker's Cakebox Challenge on RMWeb.

After a few false starts I decided on a subject, and spent a couple of weeks trying to fabricate a reasonable looking representation of inset tram tracks.

In the end I remembered that I had some odd lengths of finescale rail.

This is the current state, as of Friday 18th May.

Hope to post again soon...

I need a name for

A New Project

I've just started a new model railway project. It's a minimum space O16.5, (thats 7mm to the foot scale on oo gauge track).

For now I am making sketch models of some buildings to help me work out the track plan.

More to follow soon...

Athens - Old Town House

From our Athens trip a few months ago, here's one example of a run-down town house that has major potential as the subject in a range of different media explorations.

As seen on Φραντζη (Frantzi), The rear of the property shows that it would have been - at one time - a major courtyard house that has been left to decay, possibly because of tax issues.

Old Athens - Windows and Doors

I am fascinated by old and traditional shuttered windows. When we are in Athens, I drag Sophie around back streets and alleys, taking photos of anything that takes my fancy as reference for future artworks. Above is a small painting based on photos taken during a previous visit.

And the track layout.

Here's the crossover at Kasamouli (ΚΑΣΑΜΟΥΛΗ). Showing the inset switches (points), the tram lights/signals and the overhead power system.

Athens trams. We spend some time in Athens every year if possible. When there I always try to get some reference shots of the trams.
